Great Teen Spirituality, Strength & Wisdom
Teenagers are Loyal & Want Structure & Consequences

Introduction
Life often misleads us. We look for treasures in the wrong place, and what we often perceive as a treasure is not a treasure at all. Our greatest treasure lives with us in our own homes. It is not our status in life, the possessions we have or the money we make that brings us happiness. It is our own children. They are our greatest treasures, true miracles, gifts given us by God, a source of happiness, love and fulfillment.
Society frequently devalues teenagers, sometimes even viewing them as obstacles to adult freedom and happiness. Teens are often viewed as "less than" -- less intelligent, less spiritual, less prudent, less wise, weaker. How far from the truth! On the contrary, teens are an untapped resource of great spirituality, strength, sensibility and wisdom.
We look to TV evangelists, local pastors, friends and all sorts of gurus for answers to life's difficulties. Why not look to our own teenagers? Sit with them. Talk with them. Reach out to them for help. Listen. You will discover how much they have to offer. Their advise is simple... but profound. They approach life clearly, unmuddled by the trappings of the adult world. They feel acutely the suffering of others and they will feel your pain. Add to this their endless willingness to give. Turn to teenagers, and you will be amazed at what they have to offer.
I consider it a great honor to have worked with teens over the years. It took me a long time to find this place of gratitude where I am now, but the search was well worth it. Working with teenagers has filled my life with profound experiences. They have helped me to see God more clearly and have brought me closer to God. I am grateful to them and hope that my work with them has been as much a reward to them as it has been to me.
